犀牛潭

Rhino Pond

犀牛潭位于古营盘西北侧，是太平天国秘藏武器的地方，长190米，宽38米、周长430米。相传金田起义时，洪秀全有意领着拜上帝会会众在这里捉鱼，发现事前藏在潭里的大刀长矛，洪秀全趁机鼓动说：“这是上帝赐给我们斩妖的”，从而坚定了拜上帝会会众起义的信心。

The Rhino Pond, with length of 190 meters, width of 38 meters,  perimeter of 430 meters, is located in the north-western side of the Ancient Camp, which is the secret place for the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom to conceal weapons. Tradition has it that during the time of Jintian Uprising, Hong Xiuquan purposefully led the believers of the Congregation of the Worshipers to the pond to catch fish. Then he found broadswords and spears which he hid in the pond in advance. He took advantage of the occasion and agitated the crowd: “The weapons are granted by the god for us to eradicate evil spirit”, so as to make the believers proceed with confidence.
